The Final Stretch
10/29/2008
This is it -- the final stretch. What you and I do in these last 6 days before the election will make all the difference if we're going to reach our goal of a filibuster-proof, 60-vote Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate.
Our PAC for a Change has already done so much, contributing and raising over $600,000 for strong Democratic candidates all across the country. I can't thank you enough.
But now it's time to lay it all on the line for 3 more Senate candidates -- 1 incumbent and 2 challengers -- who are competing hard in the homestretch of their campaigns. Mary Landrieu, Tom Allen, and Scott Kleeb are all running in tough races this year, and they need our support.
Contribute to Mary Landrieu, Tom Allen, and Scott Kleeb today -- and help Democrats reach a 60-vote majority in the U.S. Senate!
I've written to you about Louisiana's incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu before. Mary has fought tirelessly to rebuild communities that were devastated by the 2005 hurricanes. She was also instrumental in passing a bill that authorizes $7 billion to reconstruct levees around New Orleans so that a similar disaster never happens again -- and even fought for the extra votes in the House and Senate needed to override President Bush's veto.
But Mary Landrieu's opponent, who was personally recruited by Karl Rove to switch parties and run against her, has narrowed the race to within a few points. Mary's voice is one we can't afford to lose, and we can't take her victory for granted.
Help Mary Landrieu continue to fight for Louisiana in the U.S. Senate: Contribute to her campaign today!
Tom Allen has never been afraid to stand up for what's right. As a member of the House of Representatives from Maine, he pioneered legislation on prescription drug issues, campaign finance reform, and the environment. He also courageously voted against the 2002 resolution authorizing the war in Iraq and has consistently stood up to George Bush on issues ranging from the economy to smart energy policy.
Tom's opponent is an incumbent who has voted with the President 77% of the time. It's time for real change. I need a strong Democratic leader like Tom by my side in the Senate, but he needs your help to get to Washington.

Scott Kleeb's background as a cattle rancher and his education at Yale have earned him the title "cowboy scholar." Scott is a strong advocate for wind power and energy independence, running for an open Senate seat in Nebraska against Republican Mike Johanns -- a George Bush clone who resigned as Secretary of Agriculture to run for the seat and has called global warming "contested science." In 2006, Scott ran for Congress and nearly won as a Democrat in one of the most Republican districts in America.
Scott is running hard, cutting Johanns' lead in half according to recent polls, and he's got all the momentum. With President Bush's approval rating under 50%, and Johanns' close ties to Bush, this is a race that we can win. But Scott needs our help to close the fundraising gap and get his message out over these last 6 days.
Let's give Scott the boost he needs in the homestretch of his campaign -- click here to donate today!
You and I have worked hard to provide Democratic candidates from Georgia to Alaska with the resources they need to take on the right-wing this November.
Now let's give a final boost to these 3 strong candidates who are competing hard in the homestretch of their campaigns.
Thank you for your help!
In Friendship,

Barbara Boxer
U.S. Senator
P.S. These last 6 days before Election Day will determine whether we have a 60-vote Democratic majority in the Senate next year. Let's make sure we do. Please contribute now and help Mary Landrieu, Tom Allen, and Scott Kleeb win on November 4th!
