The Lay of the Land
07/02/2009
It's been an incredible few months since the progressive majority you helped deliver to President Obama last November has been in session. I hope that, like me, you've taken some time to savor our victories. Over the past three election cycles, PAC for a Change led the way in electing progressive officials. We've led the way in turning Congress, and America, from red to blue. And we've led the way in putting America back on track.
But the time to rest and enjoy is over.
With the Republican Party in shambles, they're going to circle the wagons and pull out all of the stops to try and stop the change we've worked so hard to achieve. We also know that, historically, midterms are difficult for the new President's party. In other words, 2010 is a crossroads for our movement: keep fighting to protect our majority, or let the promise of President Obama's historic vision slip away.
I, for one, plan to keep fighting. Let's stick together, work harder than ever, and make sure we continue to deliver the progressive majority the American people need in Congress.
Invite your friends to join PAC for a Change today — and help us fight to expand our progressive majority in Congress in 2010!
We already have our work cut out for us next year:
-
36 Senate Races
-
Every single house race
-
17 incumbent Democratic Senators to defend, including some true progressive leaders like my mother, Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Patty Murray of Washington.
-
Excellent opportunities for pickups in places like Kentucky, where Senator Jim Bunning has completely lost touch with the mainstream, and New Hampshire, where Judd Gregg's retirement has opened the door for a true progressive leader like Paul Hodes, and in Missouri, where Robin Carnahan is running for retiring conservative Senator Kit Bond's seat.
In all of these races, we're going to face well-financed opposition that will stop at nothing to replace our progressive majority with the "Party of No." We simply can't let that happen. To win that fight, we're going to need all the support we can marshal.

With more than a year and half until the next election, many things will change. Where the fights are and who needs our help could shift on a regular basis. I look forward to being there with you, every step of the way, making sure you know the key races and where your help is needed most.
Working together, we can do what PAC for a Change has always been about: making America better for the people that make America great. I'm anxious to continue working with you to achieve that mission.
Thank you for your continued dedication and support.
Sincerely,
Doug Boxer
