Can You Believe?
Can you believe?
Can you believe how much it costs to protect Trump and his family during their endless travels? The Secret Service is about to run out of money after paying exorbitant costs at Trump resorts. And the Center for American Progress estimates Trump’s personal travel costs through August 3 at $32 million. That’s at least four times the total annual costs for gender-transition-related medical treatment for transgender service members, which Trump cited as the reason for his despicable proposal to ban them from service.
By way of comparison, the Rand Corporation estimates the total annual costs for gender-transition-related medical treatment – which Trump cited as the reason for his despicable ban on transgender service members – at $2.4 million and $8.4 million.
Can you believe the total disconnect between Teleprompter Trump and Trump unchained – that is, Trump unhinged?
Can you imagine how this man would react to a real crisis?
Can you sleep well at night knowing who would answer the 3 a.m. call to the White House?
Hits and Misses – the week’s best and worst moves
Miss of the Week: Once again, no contest: Trump’s utterly deranged performance in Phoenix.
Hit of the Week: James Clapper’s response to Trump. The Former Director of National Intelligence said, “I really question his ability to be – his fitness to be – in this office” and added, “I also am beginning to wonder about his motivation for it – maybe he is looking for a way out.”
House Race of the Week
As you may know, this week PAC for a Change launched our Resist & Replace campaign, a focused effort to defeat key Republicans at the ballot box in 2018. We began with an ad targeting Congressman Darrell Issa, who barely survived in 2016 and looks even more vulnerable after supporting the GOP’s horrific Trumpcare bill. Issa’s constituents are taking him to task with regular protest rallies at his district offices; Issa made national news by fleeing one rally and photographing it from the roof. Darrell: you can run, but you can’t hide. We’ll resist you now and replace you next November.
Like you, I am enraged by the daily damage that Donald Trump inflicts on our nation, the world, and its people. Though we might be unable to replace him until 2020, we can severely limit the damage he does by taking back Congress in 2018. That’s why PAC for a Change is working so hard to replace Trump’s supporters in the House and Senate. We’re starting in California, where seven GOP House members represent districts Trump lost last November. Through targeted advertising and grassroots mobilization, we will reach swing voters in key districts and tell the truth about the Republicans’ support for Trump’s dangerous agenda. And every dollar raised for this project will stay in our Resist & Replace Fund so we can make serious, long-term investments in our priority campaigns. I hope you’ll stand with us to Resist & Replace the Republicans and take back Congress in 2018.
